Chris Ball

Chris Ball

Chris Ball

Chris Ball is Chief Executive of TAEN. Prior to this he was a freelance journalist, an HR consultant and previously a national officer of the union MSF (now Unite), where his responsibilities included the non-profit sector and the working environment.

Chris has worked with large and medium sized private sector companies in engineering, chemicals and pharmaceuticals as well as the statutory and third sectors. His experience includes employee relations, workplace health issues and diversity as well as conducting evidence based research and investigations into sensitive issues. He has led several campaigns around employment rights issues, working in parliament and elsewhere. Chris has written on work for the London Evening Standard, The Guardian and various other papers.

He is currently chair of the employment experts’ group of AGE, the European Older People’s platform, a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, holds a doctorate in industrial relations from the London School of Economics and is a member of the government agency, the Central Arbitration Committee.

Keith Frost

Keith is Business Manager at TAEN and acts as deputy to the Chief Executive.

Keith previously pursued a varied career in the private sector, specialising mostly in sales and marketing and general management roles. His corporate career ended prematurely in mid-life and like so many older workers, found himself confronted with barriers to finding a new job.

Serendipity led him to Wise Owls - a specialist recruitment agency for the over 45s and TAEN member - based in Hackney where he was chiefly responsible for PR and marketing.

Corinna Stowell

Corinna Stowell

Corinna is Operations Manager at TAEN

Corinna worked in the private sector, where she focused on corporate communications, before joining TAEN. She spent many years with an international news and information company and has worked in the insurance industry.

Like her colleagues, Corinna has had a varied career. She became a teacher on graduating and taught in the UK and Hong Kong before deciding to change direction. She has also previously worked for a small charity.

Patrick Grattan

Patrick Grattan

Patrick Grattan MBE

Patrick founded TAEN in 1997 and was Chief Executive for 10 years to 2007. During that time he built up TAEN’s membership and its influential role in public policy at national and local level. He was a member of advisory boards and groups for the Department of Trade and Industry, the Department of Work and Pensions, the Learning and Skills Council, Jobcentre Plus and a number of voluntary organisations.

He continues in a supporting role for TAEN, focusing on its continuing expertise and communication on age and employment and related topics.

In 2002 he set up the Equality and Diversity Forum which brings together many community, public and private sector bodies to progress work on equality of opportunity for all. It has been influential in the establishment by the Government of the Commission on Equality and Human Rights.

Patrick had a varied career in the Diplomatic Service and Civil Service and in the oil industry, working in the UK, the USA and France. He ran the operations of the Prince’s Youth Business Trust. He was a member of the Parole Board from 1997- 2003 and a former board member of Notting Hill Housing Trust. He is an active performing musician.

Barbara Watkins

Barbara Watkins

With a background in industry and education, Barbara transferred this experience into career guidance and lifelong learning, workforce development and the management of demographic change. A practising exponent of portfolio working, flexible transitions from work and redefining retirement, she champions the societal value of age diversity in the workforce.

Barbara leads for TAEN in the Midlands region where she brings networking and project design skills to initiate and support regional and local activity.

David Blandford

David Blandford

David has worked as a business consultant to TAEN since 1996. He is Editor of the TAEN Members’ Directory and advises on policy, publications, project management and members’ services.

For over 15 years he was Managing Director of the Careers Research & Advisory Centre (CRAC) Ltd, concerned with influencing the practice of career preparation and development within education and employment. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management, CIPD and the Association of MBAs.

Andy Finnie

Andy Finnie

Andy is founder and Managing Director of Aged2Excel Ltd, a company specialising in age diversity and employment services. A highly qualified and professional senior marketer, Andy has a wealth of experience in the services and process industries, developing business and marketing strategies and the management of service offers.

Andy has joined TAEN as Regional Manager, tasked with promoting and driving TAEN key objectives in the West Midlands by working closely with employers, advisory boards and associated groups. He is also an Ambassador for the West Midlands Mature Workforce Initiative (MWI) and acts as the coordinator for the Ambassador Corp. Andy has three grandchildren and enjoys writing novels for children and teenagers.
